As we evolve our structure to better serve our vulnerable and elderly clients, we are looking for a Field Technician/Engineer, with a knowledge of telecare systems including installation, repair and upgrade of systems which can be integrated into the clients existing telephone system at home to join our amazing team in the Cumbria area.

The job role includes:

The installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and removal of telecare and assistive technology equipment within the homes of service users. This role will include the assessment and training of individuals with both complex & non-complex needs.

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of customers / service users’ needs and identify the equipment and services which will enhance independent living, assessments include matching the correct digital offering for clients’ needs and risks, alongside longer-term solutions based on client feedback which may require additional equipment in the future.
  • Installation and upgrade of digital telecare equipment whilst using both handheld and power tools to install equipment in a safe manner, alongside using and awareness of ladders and step ladders.
  • Conduct service calls on existing equipment, fault finding and resolving any issues clients may have. The collection of existing equipment when clients may no longer require it.
  • Provide interactive demonstrations of installed equipment to our clients which will instill confidence and knowledge when using the equipment, alongside aftercare offerings and supporting education and documentation for clients, listening, and offering solutions to any questions they may have.
  • Update and maintain client records.

What we would like from you:

  • Ideally, experience of telecare installation and maintenance which includes awareness of residential telephone wired systems and the ability to problem solve and fault find when requested to attend service calls.
  • Experience in customer care or electrical installations, telecommunications, or electrical engineering would also be an advantage.
  • Strong customer facing skills which include the ability to listen and empathise, alongside a caring nature which puts our clients at the heart of what we do.
  • Good analytical skills and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Strong IT skills particularly with stock management and engagement within the business through Microsoft suites
  • Strong organisational skills to ensure all documentation relating to work equipment and vehicle are always kept tidy and in a serviceable condition.
  • The ability to use and operate tools including hand-held power tools safely.
  • The ability conduct risk and dynamic assessments for your own safety and the clients during installation and interaction with a strong emphasis upon working safely for example deploying manual handling and lifting and working with ladders up to 3.6 meters.
  • A full, valid driver’s licence.
